Accurate determination of working gas capacity and increase of UGS flexibility is not possible without detailed knowledge of its geological structure. Construction of geological model using the Petrel software is very comfortable and reliable, especially when input data of high quality are abundant and also when 3D seismic data are available. Interpreted well logs from individual wells, core laboratory analyses and results from hydrodynamic research make the basic database of input data for creating the 3D geological model. The geological model represents geometry of reservoir, distribution of basic petrophysical properties (porosity, permeability), facial associations etc.. In addition, the Petrel software contains so-called simulation module, which enables the user to fill in additional reservoir data to the database, such as information about reservoir fluid properties, well completions and production/injection historical data. Consecutive mathematical modeling is realized in Eclipse 100, or in Terasim software. Mentioned methodology was applied in the NAFTA a.s. during 2004 – 2006; geological models of the UGS Lab 3 (8th Pannonian) and Gajary-Badenian oil and gas field were prepared.
